Niwashi Hand Grubber - weed digger

This is the ultimate weeding device. Perfect for tackling tough weeds in heavy soil and breaking up clumps of clay. 

Very dense high carbon Japanese mountain steel on a short oak handle. Properly cared for, oiled and sharpened this tool will last many years. Handmade in Japan.

Linseed oil should be applied to the oak handle and steel head when your Kaiwon Guwa arrives. Sharpen the single edge blade at 15 degrees with a rough file, course sandpaper, a then  fine sandpaper. Remove the burr from the opposite side. Finish with a diamond file then apply linseed oil or ideally camellia oil.  Camellia oil was used by the samurai used to maintain their swords.
