Dahlia: Spartacus
Dahlia: Spartacus
Sultry velvet red large decorative. My kind of red! I won first prize for three of these 22cm blooms in a vase one year. This is good quality stock without chimeras (genetic faults). If you want the irregular yellow striped Spartacus that is called Bohemian Spartacus. I don't sell dahlias with faults.
Protect from wind and rain. The flowers weight a lot and cannot handle heavy rain. Some exhibitors cover theirs with umbrellas prior to competition. Or if rain is on the way, pick it a little early. The flowers last five to seven days week in a clean vase.
Large bushy plant growing 1.8m tall and 1.5m wide. Gross feeder mid summer and autumn. Most appreciative of sulphate of potash and liquid seaweed fertilizer.
