The ultimate bee magnet, homerun is a very floriferous, dark leafed maroon single. Plant in full sun for an abundance of flowers from November to late May in Auckland, NZ. Breed in Keith swampy clay in Waitakere, this cultivar is tolerant of wet soils and humidity. The black foliage also enables this cultivar to withstand full sun, mid summer when other dahlias tend to wilt. Deadhead regularly for continuous blooms. (Dr K Hammett, New Zealand, 2007)
