Dahlia: Alloway Candy (NZ Heritage dahlia)

Alloway Candy was bred in New Zealand in 1970 by R. Stitt. Locally sourced tuber stock that has been under a metre of Waitakere floodwater and survived two droughts. This is a dahlia you have to be talented to kill. She looks good and has strong stems, flowering from November to May. Classified as a Double Orchid Heritage dahlia by the NZ Dahlia Society. The yanks call it a stellar type. (R. Stitt, 1970, NZ). Great cut flowers which we supply to florists in summer.
