Dr Hammett writes: "The story about the specific Vico Yellow accession is that Sir Peter Smithers personally gave a plant to the Late David Brundell. Before Brundell left NZ he gave me plants by way of safekeeping to keep the Smithers’ line going.
Smithers was an important figure in British horticulture. It is widely believed that James Bond was modelled on Smithers who had worked in British intelligence for most of his life. He developed four gardens during his lifetime. The last was at Vico Morcote in Switzerland. Hence the name."
This clivia was the starting point for many yellows in Dr Hammett's 45 year clivia breeding program.
Limited one time only release from Dr Hammett's Elite Clivia Shade House. Five plants available, that's it, forever.
